Florida has thousands of businesses run by owners who file taxes with an ITIN. SBA loans are not available to them under the 2026 rule, but some lenders do make business loans with an ITIN, especially community lenders that know immigrant entrepreneurs.
Who lends with an ITIN
- CDFIs: the most common source. Many offer small business loans, credit-builder loans and coaching in Spanish. See what a CDFI is.
- Some credit unions: ask whether they accept an ITIN for membership and business loans. See credit union loans.
- Community loan funds and nonprofit microlenders that use their own money, not SBA Microloan funds.
- Some equipment finance companies, where the equipment secures the loan. See equipment financing.

Documents Florida lenders usually ask for
- Your IRS ITIN letter and a valid photo ID (passport or consular ID).
- Two years of personal and business tax returns filed with your ITIN.
- Business bank statements, usually three to twelve months.
- Your Sunbiz registration and local business tax receipt or licenses.
- A lease or proof of where the business operates.
- A short plan or explanation of how you will use and repay the money.
Many lenders start with a smaller amount and offer more after you repay on time.
Build your credit while you wait
A secured card from a bank that accepts ITINs, a credit-builder loan from a CDFI or credit union, and on-time rent reporting can all build a U.S. credit file. See building credit as an immigrant.
Scams to avoid
- Anyone offering “SBA loans for ITIN holders”: not possible under the 2026 rule.
- Upfront “processing” or “insurance” fees before approval.
- Pressure to sign documents you can’t read. You can ask for an explanation in Spanish and take papers home.
